Synthetic Floors

Ceramic Tile – is man-made clay fired material. Glazed ceramic tile (single-fired, double-fired, etc...) does not normally require any protective treatment. It is the glaze itself that gives the tile its excellent protection and resistance to the absorption of dirt. Many of the new ceramic tiles in today’s market are manufactured to look like real stone; these imitations are quite impressive and can fool many uninformed hard surface cleaning firms. As a general rule the clean ability of ceramic tile is outstanding and the process is generally relatively simple. Professional cleaning and sealing will restore the tile to a like-new condition.

VCT Tile – Vinyl Composition Tile can be found in 9” inch tiles, but is most commonly found in 12” squares. It contains vinyl resins and comes in a wide variety of colors. It is an extremely dense yet porous floor and has good resistance to acid, alkaline and solvent base spots and spills. It is highly resilient and is installed in light, medium and heavy traffic areas. VCT is the most commonly found resilient floor for commercial use.

Porcelain Tile - is a very hard material that is particularly resistant to chemical agents, scratches, freezing and the absorption of water. Porcelain is ideal for paving floors in public places such as restaurants, airports, schools, hospitals and shopping centers. It has also recently begun to be used in residential applications. Porcelain Tile can be given a polished surface industrially. This produces the “polished” version with its mirror-like shine. However, unlike the “natural” or unpolished versions, this is subject to marking. It can be honed and polished, but it is a very difficult and time consuming process.

Quarry Tile & Paver Brick – Quarry Tiles are an unglazed ceramic material. They are particularly well suited for exterior paving due to their low absorption and resistance to freezing (the high baking temperatures and high quality of clay used in manufacturing, along with other raw materials make this type of floor one of the most durable on the market today).

There is no particular waiting time before treating these materials because they are not generally affected by blooms, and their low absorbency allows for rapid drying. In any case, protecting treatments should only be carried out when the floor is completely dry. There are different products and processes for these materials according to whether they are laid indoors or out. The two most common types of Quarry and Paver Bricks are Rustic and Stoneware.

Terracotta Tile or Saltillo Tile – is one of the oldest ceramic materials made by man. This type of tile is created by mixing clay and water, leaving it to dry naturally and finally baking it in a kiln. Saltillo Tile has particular characteristics that demand special treatment. The unique properties exist physically (with absorption), mechanically (with special finishes), and compositionally (with different types of clay).

Cleaning Procedures & Compounds

Masking and Protecting – All carpet and fixtures to be protected withmasking tape. All areas surrounding stone or tile to be protected with 24-in” plastic dispenser tape and duct tape to ensure that there will be no damage from water or slurry.

Cleaning and Restoration – Stone/Tile and Grout are hand detailed to remove surface contaminants such as: pencil marks, excess grout, paint splatters/speckles, tape and adhesive residue, etc. Stone/Tile and Grout is machine and hand scrubbed/brushed in conjunction with a new Hydro-Force SX-12 technology that uses a use a truck-mounted hot water extraction system with specialized cleaners to achieve the maximum amount of soil removal.

Gekko Grout and Tile Tool Provides quantum improvements over current systems for grout and tile cleaning. Includes an internal jet that turns with the rotating head for consistent powerful cleaning. Will give unbelievable performance in both residential & commercial settings and can return the contractor's initial investment on as little as one or two jobs! Works with any truckmount carpet cleaning machine and runs at 400-800 PSI.

Rotovac Powerwand Hard Surface Brushes – Provides much needed agitation type scrubbing of those hard to clean grout lines and other hard surfaces

Cleaning and Sealing Products

Grout Sealer is a low odor solvent-based sealer, dries in 6 hours, cures in 48 hrs. Fluorochemical technology for oil, water, & soil resistance. Affordable & easy to apply with the "Grout Stick". Can be used on any non-sealed cementatious surfaces. Does not change the texture or color of the current grout when dry.

Grout & Stone Sealer is a flexible water-based sealer that can be applied over damp grout & stone. This penetrating sealer with fluorochemical technology repels and protects against water, oil spills and stains.

The ability to spray over damp grout makes this preferred over solvent based sealers from a time saving perspective. The cleaner no longer has to come back the next day to seal the grout or stone. Application of the product does not affect slip resistance

Grout & Tile cleaner was designed for use on difficult stains & soil found in the grout & crevices of any-type tile. This alkaline-based cleaner will remove years of built-up grease, soil & stains. It works best when combined with pressure & heat while using the Viper Grout Tool. Viper Venom can also be used on a wide variety of other hard surfaces when properly diluted with water.

Prespray for tile & grout Spotter for grout stains. 1 to 4 for Prespray, up to full strength for spotting. Acid pre-treatment cleaner for man-made tile which is non-porous, scratch resistant and acid resistant. Use for floor and walls with mineral scale and soap scum residue or to remove imbedded stains from the grout. Amazing advances in high tech surfactant technology help Spinergy 2 cut grease on the acid side of the cleaning spectrum and do it without the addition of solvents. Low vapor formula designed to reduce irritation resulting from breathing. In some cases brush agitation is needed in addition to Gekko and Turbo.

Rinse & Maintenance Cleaner 1 oz./gal. For rinse and 2 oz./gal. For mopping. Neutral rinse and maintenance cleaner for man-made tile which is non-porous, scratch resistant and acid resistant. Excellent degreasing qualities for a neutral cleaner. Rinse moves grout toward neutral state improving bonding and performance of sealers. Assists emulsification and removal of soils and residues. Low residue and cleaning power make it a great maintenance cleaner.

Prespray for tile & grout can be use 1 to 4 for pre-spray, 1 to 16 for maintenance cleaner. Alkaline pre-treatment cleaner for man-made tile which is non-porous, scratch resistant and acid resistant. Use for floors with particulate soil and residue from oils. Ideal for use in deep cleaning for restaurants, kitchens and areas of high traffic. Amazing advances in high tech surfactant technology help Spinergy 11 melt away years of built up grease and soils - and do it without the addition of solvents or highly caustic builders. Minimal residue improves bonding and performance of sealers.
